I hate knocking a movie but I was so hyped about seeing "I am Legend" and all it did was let me down. The first half of the movie was a long version of what we all saw in the trailer. It was a great build up but did not end with the excitement that I was hoping for. Also the monsters (the dark seekers) looked like they belonged more in "Beowulf". Sorry special effects team.

I bought my Mac mini the day Apple released them and I have never regreted the purchase. The one thing I have regreter is not having WiFi added when I ordered it. Upgrading the Mac mini is not encouraged by the case design. The loud cracking sound you hear when you use a butter knife to pry open the case is scary enough to make me want to never open it again. I'm on the fence about if I like what I am seeing from the new Transformers movie. It's looking like what happened with Godzilla in 1998. An updated version of a classic property. Everyone gets all excited and goes to see the film and then years later talks about how they didn't care for that take on the idea or characters. Perian, a little component add-on for QuickTime has been very useful lately. After compressing a Flash video (FLV) you often need to see it playback to test your compression settings. Now it is even easier by comparing videos using QuickTime.

Here is a very simple social networking service called "Who-R-You" that only allows you to post a pic. That is it. No profile info or anything just simple and fast. It feels to bare bones to work. A small text block would be a nice add on but I wonder if adding anything would take away from the charm of the simplicity. The network is very small but growing. I have never been that interested in the U2iPod. Before it was the only black iPod making it interesting but I was not a fan of the pre-loaded music and the red accents. Now with U2iPod round two I don't see the point. I guess it is great for fans of U2 that want it. But what about those fans that bought the first one. Why not try a different band. Just a thought.

As a web designer I need to cut back my bandwidth to see how pages load or how Flash handles. I'm always on a high-speed connection so low bandwidth testing has always been a real pain. Lately I have been using this freeware program to limit my download speed. It's very easy and handy. A must have app for anyone designing on the web.

HughesNet offers high-speed internet to U.S. locations over satellite. Right now it's a $600 install and then $70 a month. But if you live in the middle of Kansas with no other options this, at least to me, is well worth the price.
